For as long as I can remember, writing has been how I try to make sense of myself and the world I live in. This blog is first and foremost for myself. I write to document memorable experiences in my life, challenges I’m wrestling with, recipes I want to pass on. That being said, I hope this blog also brings joy and comfort to others. It’s certainly been a joy and comfort to create.

My grandma passed away at 93 in November 2016. She documented most of her life in journals. I remember her tiny, cardiganned self hunched over a large desk cluttered with old bills to be paid, pills to be taken, and stacks of notebooks. She’d wear her heavy glasses that magnified her twinkling eyes. She wrote in Japanese, slowly and deliberately. Her mouth silently saying the words she was putting to paper. She was a complicated woman, but she had good intentions and she always encouraged me to write.

This blog was inspired by her and it’s been a form of self-care for me.

Thank you so much for stopping by ❤️
